Salford is one of the most prominent regions of Greater Manchester and Salford Quays in particular is just about as infamous as it is historic. For hundreds of years, this dockyard has been used to import and export goods to the entirety of the United Kingdom, but that all changed in 1982 when the final import was made and the dockyard closed for good.
Is there still anything to do here?
Of course! Just because the Quays have slowed down, it doesn’t mean that the region has experienced a complete halt. In fact once the docks closed the entire area came together, including businesses and residents, to ensure that the urban regeneration that was planned was able to take place without delay.
And this is what led to the Quays that we all now know and love. There’s now the Lowry Theatre to enjoy, which was designed by world-famous architect Michael Wilford. If you’re into history then you may want to stop by the Imperial War Museum – an iconic structure that still sources the latest finds from World Wars and major battles from around the globe.
Are there any salons here?
This region of Greater Manchester is well-known for its affluent lifestyle – and that’s due in no small part to the luxury restaurants, retail outlets and bars in the area. But the beauty salons have also played a major role in this reputation; you’ll find several that are as iconic as they are popular amongst the rich and famous.
There are also those that may be deemed a little more affordable, we well as a few that specialise in exclusive treatments that hail from the Orient – so we’re sure that whatever you are after, you’ll find exactly what takes your fancy.
